Job TitleTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.• Follow all Hanwha Philly Shipyard rules and regulations• Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, shackles, clamping devices, blocks, synthetic slings and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved• Must have knowledge of various size wire ropes breaking strengths• Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps• Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook• Gives directions to Overhead Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled• Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment• Use proper hand signals to signal crane operators and radio communication with crane operators• Visually inspect all rigging gear such as wire rope, shackles synthetic slings, chain hoist, come-alongs, hooks, and all other rigging gear to insure that safety is always first• Perform other related duties as required and assigned• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, with hand signals and by radio• Thoroughness• Flexibility• Integrity• Strategic thinking• Willingness and ability to work as a team memberThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke.
